That's Called "Ghost Writing" ... Literally.
Just when you thought you have seen and heard it all, there is now a woman claiming that ghosts possess her body, take control of her, and uses her to write messages from beyond the grave. Of course they can! Why didn’t we realize this sooner? It makes perfect sense that a “ghost” would want to take control of a living host to send written messages, as opposed to simply appearing before the eyes of a psychic and then the psychic interprets what he or she think the ghosts are telling them. Writing is a much more exact means of getting the message across from the spirit-realm.
The woman’s name is Catherine Kennedy, she lives in Scotland, and according to the article in The Mirror …
“Whenever the spirits take the pen, my writing completely changes and my hand guides across the page … I just sit back and let them finish. It’s an incredible gift.”
Not only is this a fresh take on “communicating with the dead”, it is also a new angle in the entire ‘facilitated communication’ realm which we have talked about on The SGU. Facilitated Communication is a technique that allegedly allows communication by those who were previously unable to communicate by speech.
An agent (Catherine) facilitates the communicator (a “ghost”) by taking up the writing (or typing) implement and does the work the communicator can’t do. We’ve discussed it in the context of (for example) autistic children, but now we have virtually the same pseudoscience playing out in the realms of “ghosts and spirits”. According to the article, one 4-page letter she (or rather, the “ghost”) wrote was in Italian, a language she is a little familiar with (her husband is Italian.) And sure enough, the letter in Italian was from an old friend of her husband who died 10 years prior. Clearly, the “ghost” was using Catherine to get a message to her husband! Why even try and look for alternate explanations?
Instead, we should use this information to open up entirely new industries within the scam .. I mean “psychic industry”. Think about the possibilities … ghost stenography (legal testimonies from beyond the grave), ghost Facebook and Twitter messages (we can start a website called GhostBook), or ghost artwork (imagine the masterpieces Van Gogh could channel through an agent?) And we don’t even have to limit it to just things we do with our hands. Ghost calisthenics (let the ghost of a famous athlete bring out the best in you … and yes, we can call it exercise!) or how about ghost recipes (cooking from Hell’s Kitchen!) or maybe ghost vacation packages (let the spirits decide where you and your family will spend their holidays.)
The possibilities are only limited by one’s imagination!
