Meet Captain Kirk's Gay Nephew, Peter
David Gerrold, Star Trek: TOS writer wrote an episode approved by Gene Roddenberry that included a homosexual relationship. It was shot down by Paramount at the time.
Fortunately, the episode is now available on the Interwebs. Gerrold collaborated with the creators of Star Trek: Phase II, and updated his script to discuss gay marriage and portray the characters as openly gay. One of these characters is Captain Kirk’s nephew Peter who transferred to the U.S.S. Enterprise to be close to his partner. Originally the romantically involved characters presented themselves as friends and the script only hinted at their relationship.
